Varadhan Arivazhagi (Ariva) / Ariva obtained her Bachelor in Nursing certificate in India and received her Master in Dementia studies from Stirling university, Scotland. She has been working as a Geriatric Nurse cum Dementia Care Practitioner for 16 yrs in Singapore. She has been championing Dementia Care Mapping (DCM) and Person-Centred Care (PCC) practice at Lions home for the Elders ever since she has completed the very first DCM training conducted in Singapore in 2007. Ariva has been encouraging the care staff in Dementia Specific unit to treat every Person With Dementia (PWD) as an individual with different personality which shapes the way that person copes with anxiety, depression, loss or change. / This culture did not come easy for Ariva. She knew right from the beginning that communication is one key issue and knowledge is another, but the major drive in creating change in belief. / Nang Khin Yadanar Aye (Aye thin) / Aye Thin obtained her Diploma in nursing in Myanmar and her Bachelor of nursing from Australia. She started practicing her nursing as Enrolled nurse in Singapore and became a Registered Nurse in 2012. Aye thin always practice holistic approach, not only to the residents, but also to their caregivers and family members. / Ariva and AyeThin has made DCM and PCC as a accepted practice in Dementia Specific Unit at Lions Home For the Elders, Singapore.
