Karen Thode is a registered mental health nurse who works as a Cultural Diversity Officer and clinician in the Residential Support Program at St Vincent’s hospital Melbourne. She has a special interest people living with dementia from diverse cultural backgrounds and extensive experience in supporting carers to promote the wellbeing of people living with dementia experiencing responsive behaviour or behavioural and psychological symptoms of dementia. She worked in the Dementia Behaviour Management Advisory Service for eight years during which time she completed a Masters in Health Science Gerontology researching the provision of culturally appropriate care to Victorian service users.
